Suggested Order Quantity

Use the Suggested Order Quantity screen to view the suggested order quantity for the part the next time the part is ordered. The quantity is determined by the system based on calculations for the Order Formula Code (OFC) for the part, sales history, and other information that was entered on the Ordering Information screen. See Order Formula Codes Summary.

To open the Suggested Order Quantity screen, click the Suggest Order button on the Ordering Information screen.

Fields on the Suggested Order Quantity screen are:

Field Description
Quantity The suggested order quantity for the selected part.
Reorder Point The reorder point is the minimum level that the inventory is allowed to deplete to before an order is placed for this part.
EOQ

The Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) is a relationship between sales history, ordering cost, and carrying cost for a part. You want to order enough of the part to minimize the ordering costs, yet you do not want to order too many of the part or the carrying costs increase. The EOQ is higher for lower cost parts and lower for higher costs parts.

The actual formula used is: the square root of { L12 (last 12 months sales for the part) x Ordering Cost / .12 x Net Price}.

The Ordering Cost value used by the EOQ calculations is the value found in the Ordering Cost field in the Vendor Profile tab for the vendor the part is assigned to.
