Application Types - Overview

An Application Type allows you to link Equipment, Fixed Assets, and Part Inventory systems to the General Ledger system. A General Ledger Account that is configured with an application type requires the user to enter a stock number or part number when the account is used within the system.

All of the application types are linked to equipment details except Parts/Labor Sales (P).

The various Application Types available in the system are:

Code Description
History (H)

No costs are updated.

Usually used on after sales accounts or cost of sales accounts.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Finance Expense (F)

Adds or subtracts a transaction amount using a whole goods finance expense account to/from the stock numbers finance expense total.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Inventory (I)

Adds a transaction amount using an equipment inventory account to the current cost of the stock number specified on the transaction. If using accounts payable the original stock number specified on the transaction can also be loaded.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Maintenance Expense (M)

Adds or subtracts a transaction amount using an equipment maintenance expense total for the stock number specified on the transaction.

Usually used on maintenance expense on rental units since no inventory adjustments occur.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Floor Plan (N)

Adds or subtracts a transaction amount using a notes payable account to/from the notes payable total for the stock number specified on the transaction.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Over Allowance (O) Adds a transaction amount using an equipment over allowance account to the over allowance total for the stock number specified on the transaction.
Parts (P)

Updates the parts system On Hand, year to Date sales Dollars, Month to Date Sales Quantity, Lost Sales Frequency + Quantity, and Special Order Frequency + Quantity, etc.

This application type is not equipment-related.

Rent (R)

Adds a transaction amount using an equipment rental account to the rental total for the stock number specified on the transaction.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Sale (S)

Changes the status to Equipment Inventory (I), and loads the Customer Number, Name, Salesperson Number, Invoice Number, Invoice Amount, Invoice Date, and Sales Account for the stock number specified on the transaction.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.

Depreciation (W)

Adds a transaction amount using an equipment write down account to the write down total for the stock number specified on the transaction.

Adds a record to the equipment history file indicating the Amount, G/L Account, and Description on the transaction applied to the stock number.
