Column Headings

Use the Column Headings screen to edit, add to, or change the heading on an existing column, create a group, and total number fields.

To open the Column Headings screen, click a column name on the Columns tab.

The fields on the Column Headings screen are:

Field Description
Heading 1, 2, and 3 Use the heading 1, heading 2, and heading 3 to customize what is shown at the top of the column.
Total

Tallies the column.

The total field only appears if the field selected is a numeric field. Also, if the Break on Change field is used, the system shows subtotals at each break as well as a final total at the bottom.

Break on Change Causes a break (blank line) to appear when the value in this column changes. It is recommended that you sort the report by the field(s) selected for break.
Alignment The alignment in which the data for this column is presented once a report is generated for the query; either Left, Center, Right, or Default (right-aligned for numbers, left-aligned for characters). Alignment settings are applied to any subtotals or totals in the selected column and are carried over if the selected query is ported to a Microsoft Excel file.
Format The format in which the data for this column is presented once a report is generated for the query. This field does not appear if the system determines that the data being generated in the selected is neither a dollar value or date. Depending on the type of data being generated, the formatting options vary. If the system determines that the data being generated is a date, the format options are CCYY/MM/DD or CCYY/MM, MM/DD/CCYY or MM/CCYY, or DD/MM/CCYY or MM/CCYY. If the system determines that the data is a dollar value, the format options are $-X,XXX.00, $X,XXX.00 CR, or -X,XXX.00. Format settings are applied to any subtotals or totals in the selected column and are carried over if the selected query is ported to a Microsoft Excel file.
