Claim
To open the Claim tab, click the Warranty Claim link on the JD Warranty screen.
The Claim tab allows you to create and send a warranty claim to John Deere from a warranty work order.
Note: For further information please refer to the John Deere Warranty user manual.
The following fields appear on the Claim tab:
Field | Description |

Claim Type |
The warranty claim type (e.g. Normal, Parts, PIP, Special Allowance, Battery, Marketing, or Track claims). Note: Some fields will only appear when specific claim types are selected. |
Dealer Number | The number of the dealer dealing with the warranty repair. |
Use Indicator | The unit of measure for the value entered in the Amount of Use field (e.g. Hours, Acres, Kilometers, Miles, Hectares, or Bales). |
Claim Number | The warranty repair number. |
Key Part Number | The part number for the part replaced. |
DTAC Solution ID | The Deere Technical Assistance Center ID. |
Authorization Number | The warranty authorization number, if applicable. |
Failure Type Comments | Describes to the manufacturer the reason why the part failed (e.g. Casting, Shipping Damage, Worn Material, etc.). |
Failure Area | The location on the unit where the failure occurred. |
Installed By | Indicates who installed the part/the means by which the part was installed (e.g. Customer, Dealer, Factory or Replacement). |
Parts Use | The amount of parts usage. |
Component Serial Number | The serial number on the failure part. |
Model | The failure part's model number. |
Life Time | If selected, indicates that the part has a life time warranty. |
PIP Number | The Product Improvement Program Number. |
Policy | The John Deere warranty policy type (e.g. Deere Administered, Goodwill, Product, Experimental/Engineering, Sales, Processing Policy, and Service Parts Failure). |
Dealer Amount | The amount the dealer is paying toward the warranty repair. |
Application | Indicates the area of use/application (e.g. Agriculture, Auto/Truck, Construction, Customer Product, Commercial Vehicle, Farm & Industrial, or Other). |
Test Results | The output of the battery analysis test. |
Sub Claim Type | A sub category use to further break down the claim type into related sub claim types. |
Average Lug Height | Indicates the average height of the lug. |
Segment | The work order segment number. |
Amount of Use | The value indicating the amount of use of the item on the warranty claim. |
Failure Date | The date that the part failed or the date the work order was opened. |
Repair Date | The date that the repairs were completed on the warranty unit or the segments close date. |
DTAC Case ID | The Deere Technical Assistance Center case ID. |
Failure Type | Describes to the manufacturer what type of failure the part had (e.g., Burned, Blown/Burst, Collapsed, Improper Fit, etc.). |
Owner Status | Identifies the ownership status of the warranty unit (e.g. Sold, In Stock, Rental, or Demo). |
Downtime Indicator | Indicates whether the unit was unavailable for use for a period of time because of the repair needed. |
Invoice Number | The original parts invoice number. |
Parts Use Indicator | The unit of measure for indicating the parts usage (e.g. Hours, Acres, Kilometers, Miles, Hectares, or Bales). |
Install Date | The delivery date of the failed part or the date the part was installed on the unit. |
Model Serial Number | The failure part's model serial number. |
Customer Amount | The amount the customer is paying toward the warranty repair. |
Company Amount | The amount the company is paying toward the warranty repair. |
Lug Height Unit of Measure | The unit of measure used to measure the height of the lug. |
Complaint |
A description of the complaint. |
Cause |
A description of the cause for the unit's failure. |
Correction |
A description of the steps taken to correct the problem. |
Settlement |
A description of how the warranty was finally settled. Note: The Settlement field will only appear for a Special Allowance warranty claim type. |
Click on the Search icon next to the Segment number to open the JD Warranty- Segments screen allowing you to switch work order segments.
Click the Import Descriptions link to import Complaint, Cause, and Correction information from the corresponding work order segment.
The following buttons allow you to complete your work on the Claims tab:
Button | Function |

Send | Sends the warranty claim to John Deere. |
Close | Closes the Claims tab without sending the warranty claim to John Deere. |
