AvaTax: Request Certificate

Use this screen to send a form letter to the customer to request a tax exemption certificate from them. The form letters are sent from the dealer's Avalara account, can be customized using the Avalara interface.

Once the customer has sent the requested certification, you can log into your Avalara account and update the customer's information.

To access the Request Certificate screen, click the Request Certificate button on the Certificate Dashboard.

The fields on the Request Certificate screen are:

Field Description
Email Address The customer's email address.
Cover Letter The type of cover letter Avalara should send to the customer that explains the reason for the request, such as a new certificate request or because the old certificate has expired, is invalid or missing.
Region

The region the exemption is applicable to.

This field is required when an Exemption Reason is selected.

Exemption Reason Select a reason for the exemption from the drop-down list.

Fill in the fields, then click Send Request.

Click Back to return to the Certificate Dashboard.
