Premium Codes
The Premium Codes screen allows you to define premium code for the payroll and service modules. In the payroll module, the premium codes are used to adjust the employee’s pay using a percentage or dollar amount, and to indicate which EARNDEDN codes to use when recording the hours and earnings. In the service module, the premium codes are used to adjust the charge out rate when posting the technician’s hours to a work order.
The following fields appear on the PREMIUM table:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Premium Code | The two digit numeric code that will be used when posting hours in the service or payroll modules. |
Description on W/O Labor Hours Screen | The description of this premium code, as it will appear on the Time Card Entry screen when adding labor to a work order. |
External Payroll Labor Code | Enter the labor code from the external payroll product (eg. Payroll Plus) that corresponds to the selected premium code. |
Use W/O Rate/ HR or Payroll Rate/ Hour (W/P) |
Determines whether to charge hours worked on an order based on the (P) Payroll Rate of the employee (as specified on the Hourly Rate field of the Employee Profile tab), or the (W) Work Order Rate/Hour (as specified on the Work Order Rate Per Hour field of the Service Information tab of the employee profile.) Note: The answer in this field will be used as the base for calculations in the % of Employees Rate/HR and Add On Premium/Hour. |
Add On Premium/ Hour |
Enter an additional flat charge to be added to the rate/hour specified in the Use W/O Rate/ HR or Payroll Rate/ Hour field above. This field is six numeric characters in length and contains two decimals. For example, an add on premium of $5.00 per hour would be keyed as 000500. Note: The total charge for hours posted to a work order are calculated as follows: (W/O rate/hr X percentage of employees regular W/O rate X number of hours) + (add on premium/hr X number of hours). |
Type of Labor (R/O) | Allows you to specify what the selected premium code represents; either Regular hours (R) or Overtime hours (O). |
Percentage of Employees Cost/HR |
Indicate the percentage of the employee’s Hourly Rate (as specified on the Employee Profile tab) which should be used when costing the hours posted to a work order. For example, when a job is charged out at overtime rates, some dealers also pay the employee who works on the job overtime. Suppose a premium code which represents time and a half is defined in this table. When that code is used to post time to a work order, the employee should be costed out at time and a half. For that premium code definition, a percentage of 150% would be defined in this field. It would be entered as 0001500. |
