NextGen Overview
IntelliDealer NextGen modernizes the screen experience while preserving the core business behavior dealers rely on today. The NextGen experience is being introduced for selected IntelliDealer screens in a phased rollout. During a controlled transition period, you can choose when your users move from legacy screens to their NextGen equivalents. After the transition period, the NextGen experience becomes permanent and the legacy version is disabled.
For information on using NextGen screens, see NextGen and React Screen Elements.

How the Time‑Boxed Adoption Window Works
Each NextGen screen (or screen group) follows the same lifecycle:
| Phase | Availability | Default state | What you can do | Legacy status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Early Adopter | Only for dealers with NextGen – Early Adopter licensing enabled | NextGen is available but OFF by default | You can enable NextGen for your users at any time during this phase | Legacy remains fully available |
| Phase A – Default OFF (Opt‑In) | Available to all dealers | NextGen is available but OFF by default | You can enable NextGen for your users at any time during this phase | Legacy remains fully available |
| Phase B – Default ON (Opt‑Out) | Available to all dealers | NextGen becomes ON by default via PPU | You may temporarily revert to legacy (opt‑out) for specific reasons; opt‑out is time‑limited with a clear end date communicated | Legacy remains available during the opt‑out window |
| Phase C – Enforced Adoption | NextGen only | NextGen is enforced permanently | Dealer choice is removed for that screen / screen group | Legacy is retired and no longer available |
The recommended roll-out process is:
-
During Phase A, ask a small set of users use NextGen as part of their daily work.
-
Collect feedback and confirm that key workflows are working as expected.
If issues are found that break workflow, you can go back to using legacy screens until they are resolved.
-
During Phase B, or once you’re comfortable, expand NextGen use to a wider group.
-
Once Phase C begins, all users see the NextGen version whenever they access that function.
Roles and Responsibilities
During the NextGen process VitalEdge:
-
Defines and manages screen‑level eligibility, default states, and enforcement via the PPU release process.
-
Provides documentation, training, and cutover guidance for each rollout.
-
Publishes known issues and workarounds during the rollout period.
-
Offers support channels and office hours during key transition dates.
Dealers are responsible for:
-
Deciding when to move from legacy to NextGen within the allowed window
-
Planning and delivering training for impacted users
-
Monitoring day‑to‑day operations during the transition
-
Reporting issues through the defined support channels
If no action is taken before the end of the time‑box, your dealership will be automatically moved to NextGen when Phase C begins.

Enabling NextGen Screens
You can enable the NextGen screens on the NextGen Configuration screen, available at Administration > NextGen Configuration. This screen also lists the available screen groups and their current status (legacy vs NextGen).
Anytime before Phase C, you may temporarily revert to legacy by disabling the select screen on the NextGen Configuration screen. Use this sparingly, for example if there are critical operational issues that block work, or short‑term training capacity constraints.
Note that once a screen reaches Phase C, the Enable/Disable checkbox for that screen is no longer available and all users see the NextGen version of the screen. Legacy is permanently disabled for that function.
FAQ
Rollout timing and rules
Each screen or group of screens has a defined Phase A + Phase B window. Exact dates are available within the NextGen Configuration page.
When Phase C starts, NextGen is enforced and the legacy version is disabled. Your users will automatically see the NextGen screens.
The Enable/Disable checkbox works at a dealership level, not per user. We recommend piloting with a smaller group operationally (within one location) before communicating broadly.
Before starting Phase A for all dealers, selected dealers are granted access to test and provide feedback. This provides a smoother rollout to Phase A.
Your dealership will have the feature enabled in internal tools.
Contact your VitalEdge account representative; participation is by invitation.
Eligibility and dealer choice
The Enable/Disable checkbox only affects screens that are eligible per the PPU rollout configuration. Some screens may still be in early phases or not yet released.
Extensions, if any, will be evaluated case‑by‑case and may require product approval. Contact support or your VitalEdge account representative with the screen name, dealer code, and rationale.
Operational impact
Underlying business logic is designed to remain consistent, but NextGen may present information differently and introduce new capabilities. Any functional differences will be documented in each feature‑specific guide.
The Enable/Disable checkbox is intended for planned transition, not frequent daily switching. Once you move to NextGen, you should aim to stay there unless a specific issue requires temporary rollback during Phase A or B.
Training & readiness
For each NextGen feature, we provide:
-
A short administrator readiness session (live meeting or a recording of the meeting)
-
An end-user quick start guide
-
In some cases, micro‑videos for key workflows
-
Online help pages
