Technician Scheduling Showing Negative Total Hours Scheduled
Technician Scheduling screen can sometimes show negative total hours scheduled across all technicians, This is most common in dealerships that have only recently switched over to using Technician Scheduling (CMBR5 switch set to 'T') as they are likely not accustom to entering Estimated Hours on every single one of their work orders. This is crucial for having Technician Scheduling work properly.
The negative hours show up when the number of hours posted to WOTTM for that day exceed the estimated hours scheduled. These posts can come either from IntelliTech or Supervisor. Note that the total number of hours scheduled also takes into account the hours currently being accrued by IntelliTech, if there are any (i.e. if a technician is signed on to IntelliTech and accruing time, then this will impact the total number of hours scheduled even though the time has not yet been posted to the work order). When the day end process occurs, this negative value will move back to 0.00, or Total Estimated Hours - Total Hours Worked for that day.
Dealers using Technician Scheduling need to get into the habit of adding Estimated Hours to each of the work orders that they intend to schedule. There is a switch in CMBR3 (Mandatory Est Compltn Hrs/Dte(Y/N/H/D)) that will force users to enter this information.
