Change Attributes, Change Output Attributes

Use the Change Attributes/Change Output Attributes screens to modify/edit a printer output file settings or to change multiple printer output files at once.

The Change Attributes/Change Output Attributes screens are accessed by selecting a file and clicking Change on the Printer Output screen or by hovering over a File name and selecting Change from the pop-up menu.

The fields on the Change Attributes/Change Output Attributes screens are:

Field Description
Printer

Specify the printer used to print the file:

  • *OUTQ—the file is not assigned to a specific printer. Instead it is in an output queue
  • *Name—specify the name of the printer that prints the file
Device Type The device type.
Copies Enter the number of copies (1 - 255) of the print file to print.
Output Queue Specifies which output queue the Spool FileClosed Any file to which data is spooled, awaiting the next stage in processing. Used in where spooling the data copes with speeds in two devices or pieces of software. has been moved to.
Library Specifies the library in which the output queue is located.
Start Printing at Page Select where to start printing the printed output file.
End Printing at Page

Select where to stop printing the printed output file:

  • *END—the last page of the file is the last page that prints
Save File

Specifies if the output is to be saved after printing:

  • *NO—the spool file data is not held on the output queue after it has been produced
  • *YES—the spool file data is held on the output queue until the file is deleted. After the file is produced, the number of copies is set to 1 and the status of the file is changed from writer to saved
Restart Printing

Enter where to start when reprinting the printed output file:

  • *STRPAGE—printing starts at the first page
  • *NEXT—if the printing of a document is interrupted, the page following the last page printed is where the printer starts printing the document once the printer has been restarted
  • *RESTART PAGE—specify the page on which to restart printing
Form Type

Enter a form type code for the printed output file:

  • *STD—only files that specify the standard form type are used to produce the spool file
  • *FORM TYPE—specify the type of form to use to print the output of the spool file
Output Priority Select an output priority for the selected print output file. This indicates to the system in what order of priority to print output files (range from 1 highest to 9 lowest).
Print Quality

Select the level of printer quality to use for your printed output file (not all printers support this parameter):

  • *STD—the output is printed with standard quality
  • *DRAFT—the output is printed with draft print quality
  • *NLQ—the output is printed with near letter quality
  • *DEVD—the output is printed using the printer's default print quality
Source Drawer Specifies the source drawer (1 - 255). Used when single cut sheets are fed into the printer.
Print on Both Sides

Select whether to print the output file double sided or single sided:

  • *NO—the output is printed on one side
  • *YES—the output is printed on both sides of the paper, with the top of each printed page at the same end of the sheet of paper
  • *TUMBLE—the output is printed on both sides of the paper, with the top of one printed page at the opposite end from the top of the other printed page
  • *FORMDF—the duplex value specified in the form definition is used. This value is valid only with printed device types of *AFPDS, *AFPDSLINE or *LINE
Front Side Overlay Prints the overlay on the front side of the page.
Back Side Overlay Prints the overlay on the back side of the page.

Use these buttons to complete your work on the Change Attributes/Change Output Attributes screens:

Button Description
Save Saves changes made to the printer output file settings.
Close Closes the Change Attributes/Change Output Attributes screens without saving changes and returns to the Printer Output screen.
