AvaTax: Locations

An AvaTax service validates addresses and/or latitude/longitude for any time they are retrieved or keyed directly into the screen such as during invoice and quoting processes, or when adding or editing ship to addresses in the Customer Profile or for Job Sites. If the information is not valid, but the system finds a close match, IntelliDealer displays a screen offering an alternate choice. You can either Accept the suggestion, or click Cancel to modify the ship to address and/or latitude/longitude.

In the Customer Profile, the system attempts to validate the ship to address keyed provided that a latitude/longitude has NOT been specified. Latitude/Longitude takes precedence for tax calculation if the address is in the United States. If only a Ship To name is entered, the system assumes an in store pickup and no address validation occurs.

Address Errors

If the AvaTax service cannot provide a suggestion, an error screen is displayed. The user MUST press the Cancel button and attempt to fix the Ship To address.

If an address cannot be verified, contact Avalara AvaTax support or consult www.avalara.com. It may be that you can use Avalara's General Delivery option to resolve the issue.

AvaTax uses the Melissa database for validating addresses. If you wish to have a missing address added to the AvaTax database, contact your Avalara representative or visit: www.avalara.com

Or, you can specify a latitude/longitude.

Latitude/Longitude Finder

You can specify a latitude/longitude in the ship to information area to more accurately determine the taxation.

Click the magnifying glass to launch a map lookup utility to help you pinpoint the exact location where the goods are being dropped off. IntelliDealer uses the ship to address you entered to determine the basic search area. For example, the address may be at the end of the business’s lane-way but the physical drop off location is at a building on the property which could be in a different tax jurisdiction.

Use the mouse to pinpoint the location and press ACCEPT to return the latitude/longitude to the previous screen.

MyDealer

During the checkout process, if the user selects SHIP, the system attempts to validate the address prior to the order being submitted.

If the address is unrecognizable, the system displays a red bar error at the top of the screen:
