Prior to R5V05 you could not location transfer less than the PPP (Parts Per Package) value. For example, say part #123 is a 100-foot roll of hose with a PPP of 100 (we sell by the foot). To transfer it for a customer or for stock, the whole roll of 100 feet would have to be transferred.
You can perform a parts transfer using one of these ways:
Location transfer for a customer in sales orders
While creating a Sales Order, if you find that you cannot fill the parts for the customer, the F4, Create P/O screen can be used to place parts on a Machine Down order from either the vendor or another stocking location.
You can transfer a different quantity than the PPP. For example, you could transfer 10 feet of hose from another location to your location for a customer sales order. The separate order function must be used for this. Group orders cannot be used for location transfers. However, group orders can still be used for vendor orders.
Location transfer for stock
To request a parts transfer for parts that are needed only for stock, you can create a parts order using the transfer vendor number just as if you were creating a parts order from the vendor. Using option 4 off the parts menu, Add and Release a parts order using the transfer vendor number of the sending store. As you release the parts order, the informational message at the bottom of the screen shows a Sales Order and PicPak being created at the sending location.
In R5V05 you still have to transfer the whole roll of hose. In the above example, 100 feet would have to be transferred.
Location Transfer for Stock using Stock Transfer Function
You may wish to use option 19 Stock Transfer on the Sales Order Management menu to move parts between multiple locations for stock. This function allows for multiple sending and receiving locations on one transfer number. When the transfer is released to the system, PicPaks and Sales Orders are created in each sending store and Parts Orders are created and released in each receiving store.
