Deleting Parts from the System (Deletion Listing Notes)
The Delete button only shows on parts where the On hand, Reserved, Allocated, On order and Back order quantities are all 0, assuming the user has sufficient security authorization.
After selecting the option to delete these files are also checked:
-
SALDET (parts invoicing)
-
PURPART (parts ordering)
-
PARTCNT (inventory count)
-
PARTRET (surplus returns)
-
PARTKIT (parts kits)
If the part is found in any of these files, including parts kits, the part cannot be deleted.
If the part has no history or the history is beyond the retention period for journals (in RETNHIS) it can be deleted. However if the part does have history and the history falls in the retention period the system checks to see if there is an accrual account entry on the part (in PARTHIST). If there is any accrual account on the entry the part cannot be deleted. This ensures that the IA (inventory accrual) journal details in the system remain complete with all valid details for all parts that affect the G/L.
If the part DOES qualify for deletion it’s removed from these files:
-
COMMENTS or PARTCOMM on 7.3 and earlier (comments)
-
PARTBIN (secondary bins)
-
PARTDES (description)
-
MEMOS (memos)
-
PARTLIST (related parts)
-
PARTMAST (part master)
