Point-of-Sale Devices Configuration

The Point-of-Sale Devices screen can be used to configure point-of-sale devices by dealership address, type and function of the point-of-sale device, and additional network details tied to the configured device.

Note:  Signatures collected via these devices are completely independent of VESign.

You can access the Point-of-Sale Devices configuration by navigating to: Configuration > Interfaces > IntelliDealer > Point-of-Sale Devices.

Tip: As a best practice, dealers should not share Point-of-Sale devices and should associate each device to a separate computer for customer processing. If this is not possible, dealers should ensure that multiple customers are not being processed through a single Point-of-Sale device at the same time when a signature is required. IntelliDealer will prompt the customer for a signature on the Point-of-Sale device when required and it is important that the correct signature is associated to the correct invoice.

The fields on the Point-of-Sale Devices screen are:

Field Description
Device, User, or IP

The name associated with the device, the user name or the device's IP.

The icons are credit card entries.

The icons are user profile entries.

Description Descriptive text you can use to identify the device.
DNS/IP Address The TCP/IP address of the PC connecting to IntelliDealer.

Clicking on an entry opens the Device Detail screen where entries can be edited and changed. The parameters available on the Device Detail screen depend on the device and your implementation.

Updating a device record applies changes to all users if possible.

The information displayed on the Device Detail screen is:

Field Description
Device Name The IntelliDealer name associated with the device appears here but once created the device name cannot be changed.
Device Type The type of device. Select from the drop-down list of supported devices.
DNS/IP Address The TCP/IP address of the computer connecting to IntelliDealer.
Port The port that the device will use. Select from the drop-down list of supported ports. Your selection must match the port selection from the PC program.
Card Swipe Capable Select this checkbox if the device allows for card swipes.
Signature on Chip Select this checkbox if the user should be prompted for a signature when using a chip card.
Device supports signature capture If you are configuring a Worldpay device that is either a Verifone MX915 or an Ingenico Lane 7000 select this checkbox, otherwise leave it unchecked (the default).
Lane

The checkout lane this device is assigned to at the dealership.

Activation Code A code displayed on the Worldpay point-of-sale device.
These fields appear only if you are modifying a device record:
Description A brief description of the device.
Location The location of the device.

When updating a device record, the system attempts to update all user records to match the device record. For example, if a device is changed from Signature Only to Magtek Dynapro, all records matching the original device record are updated to Magtek Dynapro.

Click Save & Close to save the current record and close the window.

Click Save & Next to save the current record and open the next available record in the list.

Click Save & Previous to save the current record and open previous available record in the list.

Click Test to test the signature capture of the device.

Click Copy to copy this configuration. You can modify the copy as required, which can save time when entering multiple configurations.

Click Delete to delete the configuration for this device.
