Setting up Freight and Fuel Surcharges

Freight and Fuel surcharges can be applied to emergency parts orders within the system and are distributed on the associated part based on the default distribution method, either quantity, line items, price, sales order, or weight.

  1. Setup the Freight screen to indicate the part numbers used to charge freight and fuel surcharges on a parts sales order. You can set up a default distribution method (quantity, line items, price, sales order, or weight) which will determine the distribution of the freight and/or fuel cost.

  2. If you are using Fuel surcharges, setup the Ship Via screen.

A fuel surcharge percentage or amount must be specified for each shipping vendor that is configured within the system.

How it Works

When the Freight screen and Ship Via screens are configured (by location), the Add Freight screen appears when updating customer ordered parts on a parts order. You can use the Add Freight screen to add freight charges, fuel surcharges and determine how the charges are distributed on the parts sales order. Freight and fuel surcharges are applied to the parts sales order based on the part numbers previously set up on the Freight screen.
