Field - Work With Field Level Security

The Field - Work With Field Level Security tab allows you to add field level security any place where information can be accessed related to the Equipment Profile, Customer Extended Information, Customer Profile, Parts Profile, and Vendor Profile files. The field level security can either prevent a user from changing information or seeing the information contained in a field.

To open the Field - Work With Field Level Security tab, click the Field tab on the User Group - Work With User Groups screen.

Note:  Applying field level security to a mandatory field prevents users from accessing add functionality. For example, applying security to the Inventory Account field in the Equipment Profile prevents a user from adding a new piece of equipment.

The search fields on the Field - Work With Field Level Security tab are:

Field Description
Select User/Group

Search for active field level security by entering a user id or group id.

Note:  Field level security set up for a single user will override group field level security.
Select File Search for active field level security by selecting a file name from the drop down list.
Select Field Search for active field level security by entering a field name.

The fields on the Field - Work With Field Level Security tab are:

Field Description
Field The name of the field within IntelliDealer that is affected by the field level security.
Description A brief description of the field name.
File The file where the field is located within IntelliDealer.
User The name of the user or group whose profile is affected by the field level security.
Field Protection

The type of field level security applied to the selected field:

  • Display Only: The field remains in view and no information can be entered or modified.

  • Hidden: Field information does not appear and cannot be changed.

  • Hidden Changeable: Hides the field values from view but the field label is hyperlinked and when selected the data is displayed and changeable (where applicable).

Click on a Field to edit an existing field level security.

Select the Click here to add field level security link to add security to a field within IntelliDealer.

Click the Copy Field Security field security link to copy a existing field level security profile.

Click Exit to complete your work on the Field - Work With Field Level Security tab.
